St Andrews to host 2027 British Open
The 2027 British Open will be played at St Andrews in Scotland, widely considered the "Home of Golf", tournament organisers the R&A announced on Thursday.
The 155th edition of the sport's oldest major will take place from July 15 to 18 as it returns to the Old Course for the first time since 2022, when Cameron Smith carded a stunning final-round 64 to lift the Claret Jug.
St Andrews, on the east coast of Scotland, traditionally hosts the tournament every five years.
"I'm looking forward to The Open's return to St Andrews every bit as much as the fans and the players," said Mark Darbon, chief executive of the R&A.
"There is something incredibly special about The Open being played on the Old Course and so many of the great champions have walked these fairways since the first staging here in 1873."
St Andrews has hosted the British Open 30 times in total.
US golfer Xander Schauffele is the current champion after coming out on top at Royal Troon last year.
Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland will host this year's tournament, with Royal Birkdale in Southport the venue for the 2026 event.
